Optimisation of Stator Vent Design in Through Ventilated Synchronous Generators: Part 2
Continuing on from the first paper in this series which dealt with extracting Reduced Order Models from CFD simulations, the second part implements these models into a thermal resistance model, which enables temperature predictions to be made quickly for a range of vent configurations. This procedure allows an optimal vent position to be determined.

Optimisation of Stator Vent Design in Through Ventilated Synchronous Generators: Part 1
A demonstration of how to create Reduced Order Models for high-fidelity CFD simulation and combine with fast-solving lumped parameter thermal models to optimise design parameters with speed and confidence. Here we use the example of locating a stator vent in a through flow generator. This process is highly useful and applicable to a range of machine types and thermal management features. Part 1 covers the CFD modelling and generaion of Reduced Order Models.
